Chapter 4
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
She Awoke by the pain in her head, it was like the worst hang over ever.
Loreley groaned as she opened her eyes.
She shrieked as she saw an Elf looking back at her.
He jerked as well as he saw her waking up.
She creeped to the back of the bed and pulled the blanket up to her cheek.
"W-Where am I?" She muttered as she watched the elf before her.
But her attention was drawn to the door in the other end of the room.
A tall elf woman stepped in, her hair long and light.
She looked at her sitting in the bed.
"Oh, your finally awake..." She said as she sat down on the end of the bed.
Loreley didn't understand anything.
The last thing she remembered was what had happened in the forest.
The rest was all blank.
"You're proberly wondering where you are, arn't you?" The elf woman said.
Loreley just nodded and looked at the woman.
"We found you in the forest, you were uncousions. We took you back here." She kept explaining.
But she hadn't explained where she was.
"But where am I?" Loreley stuttered as she pulled her legs up under her.
"Your in the village of Midian" the woman replied.
Of all places....Midian.
Not exactly where she wanted to be.
She could just have walked into a dragon's cave instead.
It would have the same outcome.
"And you are....?" Loreley tried to get everything straight.
The woman just smiled as she got up of the bed.
"I am Alana"
A shocked look grew across Loreley's face.
Alana, her mother had told her about her.
She had never thought she'd live to see the day that she'd be face to face
with the arch enemy of her mother.
Alana looked at the look that had spread itself across the young dark elf's face.
"Something wrong?" Alana politly asked.
"You're....." But her words got cut off as an Male Elf stumbled into the room.
He looked at her and back at Alana, then back at Loreley again.
For a minute or two he just seemed confused, before he suddenly pointed at her.
"It's....It's...." he stuttered as he ran over to Alana.
"You took her into our home?" Alana just nodded at the confused male.
"Yes, Dearest Victor. She was hurt."
Loreley didn't understand, she felt more confused the more she thought bout it.
"But....But She looks just like Dion!" Victor said as he looked Loreley over once more.
"Dion?" Alana said with a questioning look in her eyes.
She looked at Victor whom looked as confused as she looked.
"Y-You....You know....m-my mother?" Loreley stuttered.
The three elves looked at each other and then back at the confused young girl sitting on their bed.
"You're Dion's daughter?" Alana asked as she turned to her Husband.
Loreley just nodded.
Apperently these people knew her mother,
and for now it didn't look very good.
"Dion, My husband and myself fought against each other in the great war that was many years ago.
I didn't even think she was still alive after my last encounter with her..." Alana lowered her head and gazed upon the dark elf.
"My mother is very much alive, miss...." Loreley lowered her head, feeling a bit ashamed actually to sit in the house of Alana And Victor.
Her mother had often told her stories about the time that had come to past.
Victor, appearently used to be her teenage sweetheart many many years ago.
And how ironic as it was now, they had promised their hearts to each other.
But Apperently, her mother had let him down, like she had done so often with so many in her path.
A sigh escaped her lips as she closed her eyes.
This was bad, really bad.
Maybe Rose had been right after all.
Maybe she should have stayed in their home today.
But oh well, what had been done had been done.
"So....How you end up in Midian, miss.....?" Loreley looked up and Watched how their eyes looked at her.
"Loreley...." she whispered underneath her breath.
Alana pulled her by the arm, "Come, let's talk over some breakfast."
Loreley couldn't help but smile a little.
Alana was nothing like she expected at all.
She was nice and friendly.
How her mother had talked about her, it seemed liked she was the devil herself.
Alana follwed her out to what apperently seemed to be the kitched.
They all took a seat around the table that stood in the center of the room.
Alana smiled as she looked at Victor. "Well, this is my Husband Victor, and that is our Son Talon,
you two seem to be around the same age. Is your father anyone we know?"
Loreley lowered her head.
"I Doubt so..... My father was the Human Gorain... He died when I was very young....."
Alana and Victor both looked at each other as the girl explained her story.
None of the had ever imagined that Dion would have found a human man to share her life with.
Loreley avoided their eyes as she countinued.
"You must not think greatly of my mother do you...? Though I do understand, why you wouldn't."
Alana nodded slowly before she spoke.
"You see, Loreley, You're mother wasn't always bad. Though that's what many seem to think.
She had a good heart once. And I'm sure you have seen the good side of her that few actually have."
Was what Alana said, true?
Hadn't her mother always been the tyrant that everyone in the Village wanted her to be?
"But power has always been something she has lusted for...." Alana added.
She could have hers, she thought to herself as she shrugged.
"There there, don't think too much about it dear. I'm sure you know her better than we do..."
Talon was watching the young dark elf from the corner of his eye.
She was sure he was around her age, he didn't seem older than her, that's for sure.
Loreley allowed herself to take a quick gaze of him.
The was something familiar about him.
She thought about it for a second.
Of course, that other night, when She and Rose were in the forest.
It was him that had surprised them.
But she kept her tounge for now.
"You never explain how you got into the forest, Loreley."
Loreley looked up at Alana and she wasn't even sure what to tell her.
But she had to start somewhere.
So, She told them of the training she'd been having with her mother,
about the elf in the forest and how she had escaped.
"He doesn't sound like he's from around here....We got no elves here with that sort of tattoo....
You sure he was an elf?" Alana asked as she watched Loreley's expression.
She just nodded.
He couldn't have been anything else.
A super Elf, she thought to herself.
She hadn't seen anything with such power.
After all, he could just lift her up by her throat.
"I better get back to Dersoni..." Loreley said under her voice.
But as she stood up, Alana stopped her.
"You think that's so wise, Loreley? How can you be sure that Dion didn't have something to do with it?" She could never be sure of that.
But she wanted to go home, she wanted to see Rose, She wanted to seek comfort in her friendly arms.
"Guess that's just a chance I Will have to take...." Loreley muttered. Alana just nodded and let her go.
"But please, Let my son follow you to The Gate of Mount Dersoni, just to be sure"
She could allow that.
Right now she wasn't sure of anything.
It all seemed empty and hopeless.
She thanked them for taking care of her and headed into the forest with Talon by her side.
For a while they walked through the mist in the allready dark forest.
Quiet and in silence.
She looked at him walking by her side,
He didn't even look at her, just following the path through the forest.
"So.... We've meet before...." Loreley started, but noticed Talon came to an Halt behind her.
She turned to look at him, his vision had falled upon her,
"Yes we have," Talon said, tilting his head to the side. "near the gates of Desori."
Loreley nodded and started walking again.
So he did remember after all.
He must have seen everything. What a warrior she was.
Even getting surprised by her best friend.
"So...You're mother was the great Dark Elf General once?"
Loreley looked over at him and nodded "Mhmm"
She was sure that he didn't understand at all.
"Wonder how that must be..." Talon continued. In shock, Loreley stopped and gazed upon the young boy.
"Are you Serious?" Loreley groaned, she couldn't believe what she was hearing.
Talon nodded as he watched her.
"must be hard to grow up in the shadow of someone as great as she was." He couldn't be serious could he,
did he even know what she had done during the war.
"I don't really care what she did. I know what she did is evil...And thats enough for me" Loreley groaned and kept walking.
"some might think so, some might not. Many things happenes cos of war."
Ignorant she thought. That was not power, it was foolishness.
"She slayed many of your kind you know, she'd proberly do the same if she saw you with me right now..." Talon laughed and gazed at the young dark elf.
Suddenly, branches in the trees moving caught her attention. She tried to see if she could spot anyone,
But nothing.
She kept moving, but she still heard it, lurking in the trees behind her.
"Watch out," She called out as she quickly turn, jumping up to meet her attacker.
They both crashed down on the ground, landing with a big thud.
And as she opened her eyes she looked into the eyes of none other than Rose.
"...Rose..." She muttered and smiled up at her friend.
Her long blue hair brushed against her grey skin.
"You're safe...." Rose whispered softly and returned the smile.
Loreley hugged her tightly.
"Of course I am, Rose...."
Both the girls got up and brushed the dirt of their clothes.
Suddenly Rose Noticed Talon standing infront of them.
"Who is he? What are you doing with an Elf?!?" Rose shrieked.
"I'll tell you later." She turned to Talon and countinued,
"I can manage the rest of the way home now, by myself. Tell You're mother I said, thank you"
Talon nodded and left the girls standing a few feet away from the Gate to the mountain.
She turned to Rose and smiled, "Let's go home, Rose..."
Both the girls headed towards the gate, both keeping their silence.
She noticed Rose looking at her in the corner of her eye from time.
What was she thinking about?
Maybe she knew....Maybe she didn't
